Lacey Chabert Biography

Performing since she was five years old, young Lacey Chabert landed the role of Claudia Salinger on the Fox dramatic series “Party of Five” (1994-2000) about five siblings challenged by the sudden death of both parents. As the headstrong, selfish but musically talented little sister, Chabert brought the right precocious quality that gave the character a sympathetic edge. Over the course of the series’ run, the actress and her character literally grew up. As she matured, Chabert (and Claudia) became less an annoyance and more of a pivotal player in the storylines.
The youngster also starred as Baby June alongside Bette Midler’s Mama Rose in the TV-movie version of “Gypsy” (CBS, 1993) about the quintessential stage mother of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. Chabert played the pivotal role of Young Cosette in the Broadway production of “Les Miserables” for two years and was a “Star Search 91″ finalist in the junior vocalist category.
She traded on her musical abilities providing the singing and speaking voice of the young “Anastasia” (1997) in the animated film and brought a level of intelligence to her big screen acting debut as Penny Robinson in “Lost in Space” (1998). After “Party of Five” left the air, the actress could be seen occasionally on the big screen in supporting roles in fils such as “Tart” (2001), “Not Another Teen Movie” (2001) and “Daddy Day Care” (2003). In 2004, Chabert, now a pert and sexy 21-year-old, made a strong comedic impression in the comedy “Mean Girls,” playing not-so-bright Gretchen Weiners, the most clueless member of the vicious high school clique.
In addition to her live-action appearances, Chabert has enjoyed a thriving side career as a voice actor, lending her distinctive sounds to such animated fare as “Babes in Toyland” (1997); as Meg Griffin on cult favorite “The Family Guy” (1999-2000); “An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island” (2000); and in her best known recurring role, as Eliza Thornberry in the many “Wild Thornberrys” TV series, films and videos. In the live-action teen comedy, “Dirty Deeds†(2005), Chabert played the protective sister of a scrawny high school freshman (Wes Robinson) challenged by bully jocks to perform ten raucous challenges—or dirty deeds—before homecoming weekend. Random chuckles and box office obscurity ensue.
