With her long dark hair, large expressive eyes and obvious talent, Anne Hathaway was earmarked as one to watch from the time she made her primetime acting debut as eldest daughter Meghan Green in the short-lived Fox drama series “Get Real” (1999-2000). The Brooklyn-born, New Jersey-raised player developed her craft as a child performer in theater, earning her stripes in several productions at the famed Paper Mill Playhouse (including “Gigi” with Gavin MacLeod and early stagings of the musical version of “Jane Eyre”). Hathaway was reportedly also the first and (to date) only teenager accepted into the acting program at The Barrow Group based in Manhattan.

A lithe, attractive Hollywood leading woman, Hatcher gained attention and good notices for her portrayal of a very modern Lois Lane in ABC’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” (1993-97). She began her professional career as a dancer in San Francisco, and was soon doing commercials and hoofing as a “Love Boat” mermaid on the last season (ABC, 1985-86) of that aqueous anthology series. That same year, she made her TV acting debut as Penny Parker in an episode of “MacGyver”, a role that later became a recurring character (ABC, 1986-90). She also has popped up as a guest-star on such TV series as “Quantum Leap”, “Tales from the Crypt”, “Murphy Brown”, “Night Court”, “L.A. Law” and “Seinfeld” (as Jerry’s well-endowed date whose much-debated breasts are revealed to be “real…and spectacular”).

The step-niece of distinguished cinematographer Haskell Wexler, this attractive blonde came to the fore with her enjoyable performance as a mermaid in Ron Howard’s comedy hit, “Splash” (1984). Hannah’s striking features have been the cornerstone of her career–she was perfectly cast in a supporting role as a beautiful android in Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” (1982)–though she has latterly proved herself capable of less glamorous roles, as in “Steel Magnolias” (1989) and “At Play in the Fields of the Lord” (1991). “The Clan of the Cave Bear” (1986), however, was one such experiment which failed all around. Many of Hannah’s more recent films, though, while trying to capitalize on her penchant for whimsy, have offered her little but standard leading lady duties (“Crazy People” 1990, “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” 1992).
