Cleahelen%20Detienne%20DuVall Clea DuVall Biography

Cleahelen D’etienne DuVall (born September 25, 1977 in Los Angeles, California) is an American movie and television actress known for playing edgy characters outside the mainstream. Born to Stephen DuVall and Rosemary Hatch, she goes by the shortened form of her name, Clea DuVall.

Since her debut in the little seen “Little Witches”, (1996) prolific actress Clea DuVall has racked up an impressive number of film credits in a short time. The sandy-haired, freckled player gave a spirited comic performance as the star of the quirky independent feature “How to Make the Cruelest Month”, which made the festival circuit in 1998. As Bell Bryant, a young woman desperate to fall in love and determined to quit smoking who reaches a crossroads in her life that coincides with the new year, DuVall won acclaim for her work as the intensely neurotic heroine. Generally cast in roles that downplay her average looks, DuVall, like many enduring actresses before her, has made a name based on her skill and dynamic presence rather than her pretty face.

Minnie Driver Biography

Minnie%20Driver Minnie Driver Biography

(born Amelia Driver on January 31, 1970) is an English actress and singer-songwriter, born in London. She first came to broad public attention when she played the lead role in Circle of Friends. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1997 film Good Will Hunting.

Minnie Driver charmed the hearts of America as ‘Benny’ Hogan, the plump and plain Irish co-ed who wins Chris O’Donnell’s heart in Pat O’Connor’s “Circle of Friends” (1995). The tall, slender beauty gained 25 pounds and wore little make-up in her portrayal of the small-town girl who heads to a Dublin university and learns about love and life. Owen Gliberman in Entertainment Weekly wrote “Driver has a touchingly awkward prettiness. Her jaw may be as square as a picture frame, but her smile lights her up from within.” Girl wins the boy in the end, and Driver attracted the notice of every studio in Hollywood. Slimming down after production, she appeared as a Russian country-western singer in “GoldenEye”, the 1995 James Bond offering. She also displayed her sexy allure as the mistress of a British parliamentarian in “The Politician’s Wife” (PBS, 1996).

Fran Drescher Biography

fran%20drescher Fran Drescher Biography

Francine Joy Drescher (born in Flushing, Queens, New York City on September 30, 1957) is an American film and television actress. She is famous for her nasally voice, “machine-gun” laugh and Queens Accent.

After years of small roles in films and TV shows, this brunette comic actress gained fame as a Mary Poppins from Queens in what has become her signature role, Fran Fine, “The Nanny” (CBS, 1993-99). With her husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, Dresher co-created and executive produced the sitcom which was basically a study of contrasts with most of the show’s humor arising from the juxtaposition of the middle-class Jewish nanny in the refined world of the British-born, upper-class theater producer (Charles Shaughnessy). For her work, the actress was twice nominated for an Emmy as Best Actress in a Comedy Series (in 1996 and 1997).

Drea de Matteo Biography

Drea%20de%20Matteo Drea de Matteo Biography

A cigarette-smoking, trash talking girl from Queens, Drea de Matteo looks the way her name sounds, hard hitting and full of Italian attitude. As a young girl, Drea (pronounced “Dray”) often attended rehearsals with her playwright mother at New York City’s prestigious HB Studio. But this early exposure to the world of theater served only to convince Drea that she did not want a career in acting. She kept this view through adolescence and applied to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with the intention of becoming a director. Although Drea scored only a combined 800 on her SAT (she describes herself as “wasted out of her head” while taking them), a completed screenplay granted her admission to the elite film program. While at NYU, Drea took acting classes solely to gain perspective as a director. But she received overwhelmingly positive feedback in these classes and by the time she graduated, she had herself a manager.

Drea had only appeared in a couple of guest spots on unmentionable TV shows when she landed the part of the hostess in David Chase’s experimental, cutting-edge, modern day mob pilot, “The Sopranos” (HBO 99-). Originally, Drea was going for the role of an “Italian bimbo. ” But David didn’t think Drea seemed Italian enough so he stuck her in the tiny role of the hostess at the Italian restaurant frequented by the mobsters and their families. As the hostess, she performed her two lines sans the now famous gritty Jersey/New York accent. To her surprise, Drea was called back to take the role of Adriana La Cerva, the uber-moll girlfriend of young mobster Christopher Molesanti. The role was meant to not last more than a few episodes but Drea played the part with such memorable flair that she was soon written in as a fixture on the show. In the following seasons, her influence as Christopher’s fiancee continued to grow. Drea also continued to gain fans and secured a bit of a cult following as the quintessential straight-talking, long-nailed tough girl. Her 5’6″ lithe tattoo-covered body is a favorite for upscale male magazines as well as local auto body shops. Drea’s sharp featured face and leather attire offer an appealing alternative to the wholesome blonde ingenues currently filling the screens. With an attitude to match this razor sharp image, yet a palpable soft side to her demeanor, Drea has carved out the niche of the sexy bad girl with a heart of gold.

Elisa Donovan Biography

Elisa%20Donovan Elisa Donovan Biography

Elisa Donovan is probably best known for her work as Amber, Cher’s chief fashion rival, in Amy Heckerling’s 1995 comedy “Clueless” and its spin-off TV series. She began acting at age seven, starring as the male lead in the play “Westward Ho Ho Ho”. This gender bending role prepared the young actress to take roles removed from her own experience and since then she never shied away from portraying less-than-likable characters both in film and on television. The Long Island-raised Donovan appeared on the NYC based soap “Loving” after a move to Manhattan and also worked off-Broadway in plays including “Safe” and “Mad Love”. Next the actress was off to Los Angeles in 1994, having landed a recurring role on the NBC sitcom “Blossom” playing Tanya, the girlfriend of Joey Lawrence’s clueless character.

Donovan scored big screen points as a rival to Alicia Silverstone’s Cher in the blockbuster comedy “Clueless”; her strong screen persona made for the perfect Amber, a character whose wild wardrobe could easily outshine an actress with a less dynamic presence. That same year, she increased her industry profile with a more substantial and misanthropic part as the conniving Ginger, a blackmailing, drug using thief in Fox’s primetime serial “Beverly Hills, 90210″. The redheaded New Yorker proved adept at playing California girls, and was cast in “Encino Woman”, a 1996 ABC TV-movie, followed by the regular starring role on the TV series adaptation of “Clueless” (ABC, 1996-97; UPN, 1997-99). Here Donovan’s character was now firmly in the forefront of the action, showcased along with Stacey Dash as Dionne and Rachel Blanchard as Cher. While its beginnings were shaky, with low ratings leading to a first season cancellation by ABC, the series found a place at UPN and was a successful addition to the network’s “Moesha”-led teen-geared lineup. As Amber, the arrogant, competitive friend of good-natured Cher, Donovan delivered the funniest lines on the program, was put in the zaniest situations, and paraded around in remarkable parodies of eclectic high fashion. While still going strong on “Clueless”, the actress made a 1998 film appearance as misguided fortune hunter Cambi in the comedy “A Night at the Roxbury”, a full length adaptation of a “Saturday Night Live” sketch featuring a pair of loser brothers in a nightclub. Donovan followed with her first significant role in a non-comedic production in “Loving Jezebel” (1999), shot in her native New York.

Heather Donahue Biography

Heather%20Donahue Heather Donahue Biography

Though she may never eat a Powerbar again, Heather Donahue claims she would “do it again in a heartbeat”, subject herself to the guerilla filmmaking methods of Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, co-directors of the surprise blockbuster “The Blair Witch Project” (1999). Chosen for her improvisational ability following five call-back auditions, she found herself, along with fellow actors Joshua Leonard and Michael Williams, smack in the middle of a conceptual piece, filming the raw footage that would become “Blair Witch” after a two-day crash course on how to load and operate both 16mm and Hi-8 video cameras. Equipping their charges with Global Positioning System (GPS) headsets, the directors deposited them in the Maryland woods and led them to predetermined sites where the exercise in first-person terror would play out. The shoot covered eight days, and the actors really roughed it, camping out and sometimes having their sleep interrupted by the production team creating drama for them to capture.
