A fiery, diminutive character lead of film and TV noted for her eccentric roles and thick Southern accent, Holly Hunter became established as a stage actress in regional theater before making her Broadway debut in 1982 as a replacement for Mary Beth Hurt in Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Crimes of the Heart”. She also starred in several other plays by the same author, notably Broadway’s “The Wake of Jamey Foster” (1982), the Off-Broadway production of “The Miss Firecracker Contest” (1984) and Broadway’s “Impossible Marriage” in 1998.
