A petite, dark-haired, young actress and singer whose burning desire to make it big in show business dates back to her early youth, Jennifer Love Hewitt—who prefers to be known as ‘Love’—got her best early shot playing Sarah Reeves, the fiery girlfriend of heartthrob hunk Bailey (Scott Wolf) on the Fox series “Party of Five”. Although she joined the cast during its second season (1995-96), Hewitt had by that time more than a decade of entertaining clocked. At the age of nine, she became a member of the Texas Show Team, which performed in the US and Russia, and the following year toured the world for L.A. Gear before she and her mother settled in Hollywood. Once in Los Angeles, Hewitt appeared in more than 20 TV commercials, her work plugging Mattel Toys bringing her some recognition. In 1989, she was hired on the Disney series “Kids Inc.”, in which wholesome youths formed a band. She later played the daughter in two short-lived series, Fox’s “Shaky Ground” (1992-93), with Matt Frewer, and “Byrds of Paradise” (ABC, 1994), with Timothy Busfield. Another weak effort, “McKenna” (ABC, 1994-95) followed before Hewitt joined the acclaimed “Party of Five.”

Hewitt made her feature film debut in an obscure independent film entitled “Munchie” (1992) but went mainstream playing Margaret, a somewhat awkward teen, in “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” (1993). In 1996, she co-starred in “House Arrest” as one of a group of teens holding their sparring parents hostage and filmed “Trojan War” (released direct-to-video in 1997), in which she essays a young woman whose willingness sends a dweebish youth on an odyssey to find protection. Hewitt solidified her box-office appeal as the lead in the hit thriller “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (1997). Hewitt then joined Sigourney Weaver portraying the actress’ daughter in the comedy feature “HeartBreakers” (2000). In 2002, she was cast as the devil in “The Devil and Daniel Webster”, a film directed by and starring Alec Baldwin. She then teamed up with Jackie Chan for the little-seen action comedy feature “The Tuxedo” (2002) and was cast as Liz, the love interest of the famed comic strip cat’s hapless owner in the big screen adaptation of “Garfield” (2004).

In between acting gigs, Hewitt has cultivated an active singing career, releasing several albums, which have been popular in Japan. Her first American release was 1995’s “Let’s Go Bang”. She recorded the song “How Do I Deal” for the soundtrack of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and created a minor stir with her 2002 album “BareNaked.” She also had a playful 2004 stint on an episode of the NBC series “American Dreams” playing Nancy Sinatra and singing “These Boots Are Made For Walking.” After playing a conniving ad executive who stops at nothing to climb San Francisco’s social ladder in “Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber” (Oxygen, 2005), Hewitt returned to regular series television with “Ghost Whisperer” (CBS, 2005- ), starring as a paranormal investigator with the gift of seeing and communicating with earthbound spirits.
