Shiri Freda Appleby was born December 7, 1978 in Los Angeles, California and grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of L.A with her mother, father and younger brother Evan. Her parents are both of Jewish descent and her name Shiri means “song of mine†in Hebrew.
When she was in high school (the Calabasa High School in Calabasa for those who require such details) she was also working as a hostess at a gourmet restaurant and was on the Calabasa Coyotes cheerleader squad. After graduation she headed off to the University of Southern California where she began studying English literature along with her courses in Theatre Arts.
